A Note to Internet Explorer (IE) Users

Welcome to Semester in the West. We have updated the website to include modern functionality and work optimally on all modern web browsers, and overall we are quite happy with the result. When writing a website, one writes the code for the browser to interpret, and each browser interprets this code differently. Internet Explorer, particularly version 6 or older, does a notoriously poor job at interpreting modern code, so unfortunately, some of the features do not work properly in Microsoft Internet Explorer. As Webmaster, I am always working to attain maximum compatibility for all web browsers, but Internet Explorer proves to difficult to support efficiently.

If you are an Internet Explorer user, we kindly ask that you download Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome in order to get full compatibility with our website. Firefox and Safari are fully compatible with Mac and PC, and are completely free. These browsers will get you maximum compatibility and the best website experience, both on semesterinthewest.org and on the rest of the internet. Please note that this is only a suggestion, and, as Webmaster, I will continue to work toward optimal Internet Explorer comatibility.
